In 2012 a storm raged across the North adriatic, discharging debris along the coast of Venice Lido. Among the dbris there was a set of 10 timbers with the tell-tale signs of Roman-era laced vessells-holes drilled into the plank edges. The study of this timber set is still ongoing, producung final construction drawings, identifying the fibers from which the cordage was made, and conducting pollen analysis of the cordage to understand other aspects of construction (location, season, etc.)
