This paper proposes an innovative simulation software-based approach for wireless power transfer circuit modeling. The main characteristic of the methodology is the extraction of an equivalent circuit for a given positioning of the coils for a precise estimation of the losses. An important feature of the modeling is the estimation of the type of loss (conduction, eddy current and core) and their location (TX/RX winding or TX/RX core). All power losses will be represented as power dissipated by resistors present in the circuit model generated by the software. The modeling approach is tested by the comparison of loss prediction with the measurements of a 10 W wireless power transfer system in alignment and misalignment condition of the coils.
