Abstract

Valbrenta is the place selected to investigate the signs of a history that sinks its roots in a spectacular territory that has been constructed, modified and progressively bent and adapted to the human needs. The geographical position, along the Brenta River, has made it a privileged place of settlement. The gradual abandonment of the activities of timber trade and tobacco production have led to a consequent depopulation and have profoundly influenced the current configuration of the village which however still manages to attract tourist flows. Its geographical peculiarities, in fact, make it a destination for hikers and sportsmen, and the activities that take place along the river have made it a place of international fame. The areas selected for the projects set themselves the goal of reconfiguring the system of public spaces through the strengthening of slow mobility. The recognition of the signs and the traces and the punctual grafting in the orography of the place were the elements used as a basis for projects that from the river to the mountain slopes were compared with the large scale but at the same time with the minute landscape.
