Within the framework of this programme, specific research − the ‘Land behind Mosul’ archaeological project (University Ca’ Foscari of Venice) − has focused on the period between the Arab conquest of the 7th century and the early 20th century. The paper will discuss data concerning Islamic period settlement derived from the regional survey, with a specific focus on chronological evaluation, patterns of change and continuity.
