Narratives are powerful means through which our framing of the world is instantiated and storytelling is the most immediate means by which those narratives are communicated to children. Stories offered to children are influential tools for them to explore complex aspects of life and to de-code and interact with the world. This chapter focuses on how storytelling sessions based on picturebooks in English can promote partnership education and eco-sustainable ways of living, empowering children to become sensitive towards nature, and custodians of their land. English as a second language offers children the opportunity to explore ecology from a new perspective and understand its global relevance. In analyzing the interaction between illustrations, text and storyteller’s performance, I present the contribution to partnership stories of three children’s picturebooks which reveal the interconnectedness of the whole natural ecosystem during storytelling sessions. The main characters in the selected books are trees, which are natural elements close to children’s experiences.

Abstract
The main characters in the selected books are trees, which are natural elements close to children’s experiences.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
