Abstract

To develop numerical models of bulk micro-forming, the authors propose to investigate the drawing of fine wires: in fact this process is a quasi-stationary process , where tribological conditions at the die interface and the deformation field in the cross section do not change during the process. Experimentation shows a not homogeneous deformation and evident hardening in the external layers of the wire. According to it, the rheology model has been modified, using a sort of inverse analysis approach and the final numerical model shows a good agreement with the experiments, demonstrating that the proposed approach can be used to investigate material rheology in micro-forming.
