This essay aims to investigate the methodology that led to the exhibition Videoarte a Palazzo dei Diamanti, Ferrara 1973‑1979/2015. Reenactment, held at the Sale Benvenuto Tisi da Garofalo at Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara. As the title suggests, the exhibition focuses on the homonymous exhibition held in the Foyer of the Chamber of Commerce in Turin in 1980 and curated by Janus, art and video art critic and curator. The 1980 exhibition was the instrument chosen to enhance the first part of the important video collection created by the Centro Video Arte and returned to the Gallerie d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Ferrara; on the other hand, this occasion showed also the preservation and restoration activities carried out by La Camera Ottica laboratory of the University of Udine.
