The paper proposes a reflection on the re-inhabiting, on how to conceive and activate new life cycles for uninhabited spaces. There is a need to start thinking about the process of senescence and abandonment of areas and infrastructure not only as an indication of failure, but to accompany it with transitional tools towards an interaction between human settlements and the natural environment, with a greater focus on community dynamics. It is a transition that should embrace new aesthetic dimensions, going beyond the city/countryside and natural/artificial antinomy to contribute to landscape pluralism, a field of research not only in architecture, but also in the visual arts and photography in particular.
