This volume consists of three main parts: Introduction, Selected Essays on Torricelli as well as on connected topics, and the Transcription of his Opera Geometrica. With regard to this last issue, several typos existing in Torricelli's original text have been corrected. Every correction is indicated in footnotes. The Introduction consists of a long essay, written by Pisano and Bussotti, devoted to celebrating and introducing Torricelli's scientific biography, his Opera geometrica, and other fundamental contributions he gave to mathematics and physics. Important subjects pertaining to the relationships of physics–mathematics and geometry applied to mechanics are also accurately presented. The second part is composed of a selection of six essays on Torricelli. Four of them are written by the authors of the volume itself, whereas two others are written by two distinguished scholars. The third part presents the transcription of the Opera geometrica (1644). Each page and image is set side-by-side with the transcribed and edited text. The book’s essays attend to different individual ideas, scientific, historical, and epistemological accounts. Each essay has been subjected to a peer-review process.
