Landscape is a historical product made up of continuities and ruptures that require a co-evolutionary interpretation, a perspective that articulates environmental features and socio-economic dynamics. We can only understand the history of a city and its chora if we can dynamically read its different aspects - social, cultural, political, economic, environmental - and their interdependence over time. Landscape is then understood as a spatio-temporal system. How, then, can we represent the various aspects that "make" a place (E. Sereni) and how they change over time? The aim of our contribution is to reflect on some of the tools born within the Digital and Spatial Humanities, aiming at a holistic representation of space, in order to discuss a more solid methodology for mapping the ancient city and chora, capable of recovering the shape, history and structure of the city itself.

Abstract
Landscape is a historical product made up of continuities and ruptures that require a co-evolutionary interpretation, a perspective that articulates environmental features and socio-economic dynamics. We can only understand the history of a city and its chora if we can dynamically read its different aspects - social, cultural, political, economic, environmental - and their interdependence over time. Landscape is then understood as a spatio-temporal system. How, then, can we represent the various aspects that "make" a place (E. Sereni) and how they change over time? The aim of our contribution is to reflect on some of the tools born within the Digital and Spatial Humanities, aiming at a holistic representation of space, in order to discuss a more solid methodology for mapping the ancient city and chora, capable of recovering the shape, history and structure of the city itself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
