Breast implant reconstruction still represents the major percentage among reconstructive procedures after mastectomy. Capsular contracture rates remain high despite the high level of technological development in the manufacturing of breast implants in recent decades. Lipofilling has been employed in the esthetic field to create a more natural look and in the reconstructive field to reduce the implant complication rates. Hybrid breast reconstructive (HBR) is the association of lipofilling and implant during the 2-stage expander/implant procedure following mastectomy. It shows a long-term reduced rate of capsular contracture. The hybrid breast augmentation is a combination approach of implant augmentation along with fat grafting offers the ability to increase cup size more dramatically than with fat grafting alone, as well as the ability to more effectively localize contouring with fat as compared to an implant alone.
