This paper presents a new approach for the measurement of vibrations of structures, which is based on video acquisitions from “event-cameras”. These cameras are characterised by an innovative working principle, where the optical sensor generates a sequence of events rather than a coherent array of images. The events are produced independently in each pixel of the photo-sensor, which fires a signal every time the impinging light exceeds a given threshold. The information coming from each pixel is thus very simple and can be processed in a very short time. Hence, the camera can work on an unprecedented speed, which can suitably reach rates of the other of 50 kHz. The paper provides an overview of the signal and image processing implemented offline to transform the streams of events generated by the pixels in the photo-sensor of the camera into a classical image flow with a very high frame rate. Then it discusses the implementation of vibration measurements on a cantilever beam with two synchronised event cameras.

Abstract
Then it discusses the implementation of vibration measurements on a cantilever beam with two synchronised event cameras.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
