Among many investigations that can be carried out on architectural and sculptural works, survey’s activity has undergone a significant evolution, especially with the use of new 3D acquisition systems. These tools increase the level of information knowledge on the object and provide as a result both a formalization in terms of planimetric and altimetric reduction of the acquired data, as well as documentation and conservation. Furthermore, the discretization of the sampled data defines digital models that can be structured by information levels. The contribution examines some different instrumental surveys whose purposes go beyond the mere planimetric-altimetric or stereometric reconstruction, oriented to the physical realization of the artifacts, considering the possibility of a reduction in scale.
