In the light of the debate on the issue of drafting of 'De vero bono' (G. Mancini, R. Sabbadini, G. Radetti), after exeptions to editorial solution proposed in 1970 by M. De Panizza Lorch (C. Goffis, M. Courteous, and others) and as a result of a new, important, witness (M. Cortesi, 1986), the contribution deals with some problems in estabishing the tradition of text. It focuses on showing the manipulative nature of the text of a printed edition (Cratander 1519), through examination of text and inquiry in activities of the printer-publisher Cratander.
