The Authors describe a case report of an haemorrhagic syndrome characterised by multiple haemorrhages, spontaneous pethechiae and ecchymoses that occurred in a farrow to finish pig herd. The clinical signs appeared between May 2008 to January 2009 and occurred in 28 litters. Upon a total of 322 piglets, fifty-five showed haemorrhagic symptoms and 25 died. Gross pathology, histopathology, microbiological and toxicological exams were carried out in order to identify the ethiology of the disorder. Haematological parameters of six affected piglets were determined. The affected animals showed severe thrombocytopenia and an increased number of retics cells. The results of the laboratory investigations were suggestive of isoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura and allowed to exclude an haemolytic disease.

Abstract
The results of the laboratory investigations were suggestive of isoimmune thrombocytopenic purpura and allowed to exclude an haemolytic disease.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
