The volume presents a substantially revised and updated version of the first edition. It now offers a complete overview of Latin grammar (phonetics, morphology and syntax), applying for the first time the method of generative linguistics. In the concrete analysis of grammatical phenomena, the universal principles of human language are highlighted, along with the parameters that give the language its specific features. The volume results in a profile of Latin substantially new, though not incompatible with the best insights already implicit in traditional grammar. The analysis takes place through the constant comparison with the Italian and other European languages.

Abstract
The volume presents a substantially revised and updated version of the first edition. It now offers a complete overview of Latin grammar (phonetics, morphology and syntax), applying for the first time the method of generative linguistics. In the concrete analysis of grammatical phenomena, the universal principles of human language are highlighted, along with the parameters that give the language its specific features. The volume results in a profile of Latin substantially new, though not incompatible with the best insights already implicit in traditional grammar. The analysis takes place through the constant comparison with the Italian and other European languages.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
