Mehr Sprachigkeit durch Mehrsprachigkeit

Multilingualism forms an integrated part of our cultureal heritage, despite the fact that the enforcment of a national multilingualism seems to have eradicated it from our awareness over the last 200 years. The language issue formed a constitutive component of the Summer Peace University in Tarcento/Italy in 2009. This manifested itself at various levels: English was not established as the given language of communication from the outside instead, when divising the presentations and workshops, the three languages of the region in addition to English and other languages as auxiliary languages were incorporated to avoid the concept of monolingualism tu surface. A special aspect of the programme focused on language as an indicator of identity and cultural framework and was used as an initial point for the partecipating individuals to confront their linguistic and cultural caracteristics.
