Very high production costs and strong competition in the market gave rise to dominance of a few large publishing firms. Abstract

In the first decades of the sixteenth century, the market of law books recorded a strong growth, not only in Italy, but also on the Lyon-Venice directive. Very high production costs and strong competition in the market gave rise to dominance of a few large publishing firms. The article tries to shed light on their strategies of competition or cooperation.
