A SHIELD ecosystem is based on a set of heterogeneous security, pri- vacy, and dependability (SPD) technologies and solutions in the so-called secure service chains (SSC). The concept is to provide system functional- ities, from the SPD perspectives, in a tightly integrated way at node, net- works, and middleware/overlay layer. Starting from SPD state of the art in embedded systems (ESs), this chapter describes new technologies and solutions that constitute a solid basement for the SHIELD framework and for the creation of “SPD-ready” cyber-physical systems (CPS). Three dif- ferent levels are covered: • The node level consists of CPSs that natively provide SPD function- alities and that can seamlessly interact through appropriate service- oriented interfaces. • The network level is focused on ensuring secure communications and service dependability. • The middleware/overlay level provides the software components that compose the SHIELD framework and that allow the orchestra- tion of a SHIELD ecosystem in terms of SPD. This baseline of SPD technologies and solutions, and the resulting SHIELD framework, has been adopted in several vertical domains and technology demonstrators that are described in the second part of the book.

Abstract
This baseline of SPD technologies and solutions, and the resulting SHIELD framework, has been adopted in several vertical domains and technology demonstrators that are described in the second part of the book.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
