Digital platforms are valuable tools that firms can use to connect different types of stakeholders, facilitating the dissemination and exchange of information, knowledge, products, and services from a social, environmental, and economic sustainability perspective. In the literature on corporate sustainability and sustainable business models, however, there seems to be a lack of studies examining the underlying business models of sustainable digital platforms. To fill this gap, this research conducts a systematic literature review to explore research on platforms in the context of sustainable business models. A rigorous methodology inspired by the guidelines provided by Denyer and Tranfield (2009) was followed to compile the literature review. The analysis led to preliminary results that show the identification of five distinct clusters classified based on its purpose for contributing to sustainability and its value propositions.
