Abstract

Mixing, transmuting, refers to composing known fragments, already given. An “anciently modern and modernly ancient manner”, the result of which seems to have been made effortlessly, alluding to living architectures, the outcome of a metamorphic combination of parts, a hybridization of fragments that are transformed into the “composite”. A state of irreconcilable crisis between the parties, who, through a paratactic assembly that does not conceal the heterogeneity of their conflictual relationship, contribute to the creation of forms that mark time. Composite is a principle of composition, not only architectural, where the parts that we recognize mixed together belong to different times. Fragments and parts, existing and projected, are selected, decomposed, mixed and reassembled into new significant structures. They establish ever-changing relationships between the components of the whole, which thus undergoes substantial changes over time. A research. And not a mere repetition of a style or a self-sufficient application of rules. It is “happy acuity” where composite becomes a fundamental of regenerative adaptive reuse.
