This article explores recent exhibitions by Tacita Dean, Meredith Monk, Anthony McCall and Adrian Paci, focusing on their approaches to composition and artistic representation. It analyses Dean's reinterpretation of Giorgio Morandi's still life through film projection in a recent exhibition in Bologna. Then, it analyses Monk's work Bloodline Shrine, a vocal performance installation, and McCall's light installations - in particular Light Describing a Cone, now exhibited in London - that create immersive sculptural experiences. Finally, Paci's work Compito, exhibited in Trieste, focusing on asemantic writing, highlights the power of non-verbal expression. Through the different practices of these artists, the article reflects on the persistence of traces, the care of memory and the meaning of absence in contemporary art.
