On the occasion of the coronation at the Capitol, Petrarch received from his friend Giacomo Colonna a sonnet, whose first verse is "Se le parti del corpo mio destrutte". The poem, a sonnet, was transcribed by Petrarch in his own hand on a paper, now kept in the "codice degli abbozzi" (as we call it), Vat. lat. 3196, c. 1r, among other corrispondence's poems between the poet and his friends. This sonnet, which celebrated the long-awaited event, reveals considerable stylistic peculiarities, and multiple literary sources: it therefore demonstrates an unexpected scholarship and artistic originality. This sonnet, which celebrated the long-awaited event, reveals considerable stylistic peculiarities, and multiple literary sources: it therefore demonstrates an unexpected scholarship and artistic originality.
