The paper presents the third national workshop of the Italian Association of Geography Teachers focused on the concept of "limit". Starting from the geographical and anthropological representation, the reflections were oriented towards the complexity of the reconnaissance of the limit. Field works in Canale di Brenta have shown how natural and social limits of a valley could became resources for new opportunity of local development. At the end, the “trip back of a pearl” represented the metaphor of contemporary migration journeys from Africa to Europe characterized by transgression of many limits for building bridges for new life projects.

Abstract

The paper presents the third national workshop of the Italian Association of Geography Teachers focused on the concept of "limit". Starting from the geographical and anthropological representation, the reflections were oriented towards the complexity of the reconnaissance of the limit. Field works in Canale di Brenta have shown how natural and social limits of a valley could became resources for new opportunity of local development. At the end, the “trip back of a pearl” represented the metaphor of contemporary migration journeys from Africa to Europe characterized by transgression of many limits for building bridges for new life projects.
