In the historic location of Ca' Giustinian, the Biennale of Venice, in collaboration with IUAV of Venice, has inaugurated an exhibition that showcases some materials related to the 3rd International Architecture Exhibition directed by Aldo Rossi in 1985. Exposed projects, posters, archival papers, photos, catalogues, pamphlets and papers retrace the events of the exhibition in which Rossi proposes a dialogue on the fate of the city and territory through comparable examples. Rossi imagines a context in which invites devoted and leading architects but also teachers, professionals and schools of architecture worldwide to debate on the architectural knowledge of the era. The exhibition at Ca' Giustinian exposes some materials prepared as proposals, small files, drawings, photos, posters of the 70 projects selected and reproduced in many copies, used to coat the 'arches' of entrance; some tables, models and photos of the winning projects; photos of works of construction and inauguration and 20 photos taken by Luigi Ghirri for the presentation of project areas within the catalogue; the panel's report, the draft program prepared by Rossi in 1983, some articles and invitations sent to participants. The exhibition, strongly supported by the Director of the Biennale Common Ground David Chipperfield that will be inaugurated in late August 2012, again brings to reflect on the role of history and locations, but also on local issues related to the global situation through a research on ourselves and on our cultural roots.
