In a press release of 4 July 2022, the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) announced its intention to introduce new measures to integrate climate change into the monetary policy framework of the Eurosystem. These measures are in addition to those already envisaged under the climate action plan, announced in July 2021 by the ECB following its strategy review, which sets out a roadmap for intensifying the role of central banking in environmental issues.
