This essay aims to investigate the status of the poetic writing of Roberto Bolaño and its relationships with the works in prose of the Chilean writer, starting from the most recent Italian translation of Tres (Sur eds., 2017). As it’s well known, he has dedi- cated a special attention to poetry in his most famous novels (Los detectives salvajes and 2666), and also in various stories (such as the ones in the collection Llamadas telefónicas). Trough the analysis of the three sections of Tres – Prosa del otoño a Girona, Los Neochilenos and Un paseo por la literatura –, this work is intended to delineate some peculiar characteristics of the Bolaño’s poetics, focusing in particular on the indistinction between prose and poetry which determines a peculiar poetic configuration of the compositions in the prose sections of Tres. In there, the lyrical character of the texts is not determined by the stylistic-rhetorical procedures typical of the genre but by a particular approach of the narrating voice. Finally, the symbolist-Baudelarian ancestry of the poetry of Bolaño is assumed, and this is con- firmed by – at least in part – reading of the essay Literatura + enfermedad = enfermedad.
