The article reconsiders a group of manuscripts that have been associated over time with the name and action of Aeginus, bishop of Verona at the end of the 8th century, the most famous of which is the homeliary Berlin, Staatsbibliothek Preussischerkulturbesitz, Phillipps 1676. For each of them, the hand(s) responsible for copying is identified and any recurrence from one to the other is noted. More generally, the existence of data is checked, to confirm their origin and provenance from the same context. The aim is to demonstrate whether there really exists an ‘Aeginus group’, that is a homogeneous set of codices of which Aeginus may have been a commissioner and/or possessor/reader, or of whose preparation - and more generally of the initiation of an organised writing activity at Verona Cathedral - he may have been the promoter, in response to the Carolingian cultural policy.
