Selection of twelve articles from the history of The Library with an introduction. The introduction notes that The Library does not have a good relationship with the history of paper and watermark studies, with only a few exceptions, such as Greg's article on the Pavier quartos (1908) and Allan Stevenson's lecture on the Missale speciale (1961). The reasons for this neglect are explained, together with a synthesis of the history of modern scholarship on paper history, with special attention for the figures of Charles-Moise Briquet and Allan Stevenson. There follows a list of the twelve articles, each with a synthesis and introduction. The analysis of no. 11 (Isabel Feder McCarthy, 2016) is particularly extensive and brings fresh material to the analysis of the provenance of the paper used for the Gutenberg Bible.

Abstract
11 (Isabel Feder McCarthy, 2016) is particularly extensive and brings fresh material to the analysis of the provenance of the paper used for the Gutenberg Bible.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
