This paper seeks to investigate tourism discourse through the framework of Intercultural Communication (ICC), with a particular focus on strategies that enhance tourism promotion in Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG). It will analyse a selection of webpages drafted in Italian and their subsequent English translations to assess whether they have been tailored to meet the needs of Target Text (TT) readers having different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. The research will specifically examine realia – culture-specific terms – which pose distinct challenges for translators; these terms need to be adapted to ensure they are comprehensible to Outsiders, or those who lack familiarity with the source culture’s language and context. Specifically, the paper will undertake a detailed exploration of culinary terminology, acknowledging the significance of food as an essential element of regional identity and culture
