The contribution looks at a hitherto unrecorded 16th-century edition which as far as we know survives today in a single copy held in the Biblioteca civica “V. Joppi” in Udine. It contains a brief verse composition entitled Iter by the Dutch humanist Wilhelm Verheiden (1568-1596), written during his stay in Venice in 1590 and dedicated to the secretary of the Republic Lorenzo Massa. There are no details of imprint in the edition but, on the basis of a careful analysis of the woodcut components used in the printing and a reconstruction of the collaborative network which existed at the time among printers and publishers in the city, it can be assigned to Niccolò Moretti’s printing house. As for who was responsible for publishing the work, various possibilities can be advanced in line with what we know about the circumstances of Verheiden’s composition.
