The paper focuses on the plurilingual community of Timau/Tischlbong, where the population has been speaking for centuries an ancient Germanic dialect beside the Italian and the Friulian language. Specifically, the borrowings entered this Germanic dialect from the other two languages will be analysed from different points of view. First of all we will try to demonstrate that alongside borrowings which are similar to the model both for semantic and formal aspects, the Timavese lexicon preserves some borrowings that, showing appreciable formal and semantic differences from the model, fix an assumption in an earlier period, when knowledge of Italian and Friulian codes was still imperfect. In the second part of the paper we will try to classify the forms according to the various categories developed by Gusmani’s model.
