A survey of young people’s sources of information on sexuality This survey involved 458 high school students in the Province of Udine (FVG) with the aim of identifying the information they require and need about their sexual life. This article is focused on the results obtained about the sex education they have received, the favourite contact people and the reference sources. The analyzed data show that teenagers apparently receive the earliest information regarding body changes at puberty. Although the mother is the primary figure, the preferred sources of information adolescents would rely on to seek answers to their questions are “Internet” and “Friends”. The results also suggest that there is a need to enhance young people’s ability to evaluate and differentiate news found on the internet to improve the quality of information available on line. Peer education could serve as a first approach to sexual issues.
