It is disclosed a haptic controller, in particular a knob, slider, or button. The controller includes an encoder (11), an electromagnetic clutch (13), a memory (16), an end effector (2) and a control unit (10) electrically connected to the encoder and to the electromagnetic clutch. The control unit is configured to generate a pulse width modulated signal for changing the resistance torque value of the clutch in the engaged state, thus changing the strength and/or duration of the resistance to rotation or linear displacement of the end effector.

Abstract
