La trasformazione dello scenario rurale italiano. Focus sull’uso del suolo aziendale in agricoltura (1950-2000)

The Transformation of Rural Italian Scenario. Focus on Farms Land Use (1950-2000). During the last three decades (1970-2000), the land of the agricultural active farms has been reduced by 5,3734 square Km, which corresponds to the extension of the entire Lombardy, Piedmont and Friuli-Venice Giulia regions. The main destinations of the farm land, which during the last decade has been abandoned, are those relative to Woods and to permanent Meadows and pastures for a total of 16,000 square Km. Therefore, this is agricultural land located mostly in mountainous areas. Within this framework, the research here presented utilizes the data of land use at a municipal level in a unique national database. This is the highest possible dis-aggregation that allows homogeneous criterions of analysis for all of Italy. The empirical verification has concerned the followings points: a) determination of the affinity and of the productive coupling in the destination of the farm land at a municipal level by graph techniques and cluster analysis; b) to find a methodology capable of representing and describing the principal land reality within the use of agricultural soil in clusters of municipalities according to the prevailing destination.
