The oviposition of Sitophilus granarius and Sitophilus oryzae was studied, at the same conditions of light, T and RH, on cereal stored grains (wheat, barley, pop-corn and yellow dent corn) and alimentary pasta (pasta containing eggs, maize pasta, brown pasta, two short shape durum wheat pasta and one long shape of the kind “Bigoli”). The total number of laid eggs and the fecundity evolution were recorded allowing to establish what sort of cereal grains and pasta is the most open to S. granarius and S. oryzae attack. For both species wheat, barley and pasta were the most preferred for oviposition, while the pasta “Bigoli” was the less. S. oryzae has laid eggs into all the substrates, mainly pasta, more than S. granarius.
