The present article seeks to trace a synchronic map of interlingual correspondences between Italian and Russian in relation to articles as used in modern Italian language. A theoretical framework is built in reference to Italian articles, and then is systematically checked how you can get the equivalent semantic content in Russian. Because of the absence of articles, to express the category of definiteness Russian language employs other mechanisms such as word order, nominal declension, verbal aspect and using demonstrative and indefinite pronouns.
