The postils added to the Greek text of the 'Amores' by (Pseudo-)Lucian in the cod. Laur. 57.1 and attributed to Politian add new insight into Lucian's success among the Humanists and offer another example of Politian's phillogical approach to a classical text and his reactions as a reader. The great philologer's notes are transcribed and commented, and every correction made to the Greek text is signaled. When viewed in the broader context of the manuscript tradition of the 'Amores, an examination of the textual interventions shows a close relationship between these corrections and the subsequent 'editio princeps' of Lucian's text edted 1n 1496 by Giano Lascaris. It is, thus, possible to single out the variants used for collations and the possible speculative emendations made by Politian.
