Elementi strutturali e costruttivi della Torre 1 del World Trade Center

Il lavoro descrive in dettaglio gli aspetti costruttivi e le caratteristiche degli elementi strutturali della Torre 1 del World Trade Centre di New-York, approfonditi attraverso la visita al manufatto degli autori, nell'aprile 2011, e lo studio di materiale documentario fornito dalle imprese costruttrici. Il lavoro è strutturato in 3 parti. Nella prima parte è fornita una descrizione dettagliata dell’opera, in relazione alla sua funzione nel tessuto edilizio e infrastrutturale, alla valenza simbolica, alla geometria, all’uso dei materiali, alle destiinazione d’uso, agli aspetti relativi alla sicurezza e alla sostenibilità, ai tempi e ai costi di realizzazione. Nella seconda parte sono approfonditi gli aspetti strutturali, in relazione alle caratteristiche dell’organismo resistente e dei materiali (opere in calcestruzzo a elevata resistenza e in acciaio), con riferimento alle specificità richieste dalle dimensioni e dai requisiti prestazionali di un opera di tale rilievo. La terza parte approfondisce gli aspetti costruttivi della realizzazione, con riferimento alla logistica del sito, alle sequenze costruttive e ai sistemi di meccanizzazione del cantiere. | This paper provides a detailed description of the construction and characteristics of the structural elements of the Freedom Tower (One World Trade Center - Ground Zero) in New York. It is based on a visit to the site by the authors in April 2011, and on documentary material provided by the construction companies. The work is divided into 3 parts. The first part consists of a detailed description of the work in terms of its function in the building fabric and the infrastructure, its symbolism, its geometric characteristics, the use of materials, building use, safety and sustainability, and construction scheduling and costs. The second part is an in-depth exploration of the structural aspects in relation to the characteristics of the structural framework and the materials (high-strength concrete and steel), with reference to the specific dimensional and performance requirements determined by the size and importance of this work. The third part takes a closer look at the building construction process, with reference to site logistics, construction sequences and construction site mechanization systems.
