One major issue in multimedia streaming over the Internet is the large bandwidth that is required to serve good quality content to a large audience. In this paper we describe PPETP, a peer-to-peer protocol for efficient multimedia streaming to large user communities. The performance of the protocol (such as the robustness of the protocol with respect to packet losses and churn) are quantitatively analyzed and guidelines for designing peer-to-peer streaming systems based on the described protocol are given.

Abstract
One major issue in multimedia streaming over the Internet is the large bandwidth that is required to serve good quality content to a large audience. In this paper we describe PPETP, a peer-to-peer protocol for efficient multimedia streaming to large user communities. The performance of the protocol (such as the robustness of the protocol with respect to packet losses and churn) are quantitatively analyzed and guidelines for designing peer-to-peer streaming systems based on the described protocol are given.File in questo prodotto:
