Karyotypes of Saccharomyces cerevisae SS1189 strain adapted up to 80 ppm Cu2+ and of S. cerevisiae SS189 strain were studied. data demonstrated that both karyotypes were different. After fifty subsequent inocula in the copper-free YNPG broth, chromosomal banding patterns of S. cerevisiae SS1189 strains adapted to Cu2+ did not change. In addition the growth rate in YNPG with copper added, was maintained, too. This result is not in agree with the ones cited in literature.

Abstract

Karyotypes of Saccharomyces cerevisae SS1189 strain adapted up to 80 ppm Cu2+ and of S. cerevisiae SS189 strain were studied. data demonstrated that both karyotypes were different. After fifty subsequent inocula in the copper-free YNPG broth, chromosomal banding patterns of S. cerevisiae SS1189 strains adapted to Cu2+ did not change. In addition the growth rate in YNPG with copper added, was maintained, too. This result is not in agree with the ones cited in literature.
