Following the transformations that occurred during the pandemic, this study aims to review some fundamental aspects of the photographic tourism framework and to explore the synergy between this niche form of tourism and slow mobility, particularly within the context of heritage landscapes. The theoretical reflections presented are based on the results of a previous pilot project and on the analysis of a vast corpus of theses developed since 2020. These studies aimed to identify photographic tourism itineraries in Friuli Venezia Giulia (a region in northeastern Italy) that – by utilizing the networks of its Landscape Plan, especially the one focused on slow mobility – sought to offer tourists a rich experience of natural, cultural, and landscape appreciation along the proposed routes. The objective, evaluated through an innovative method of spatial analysis, was achieved by almost all of these itineraries. The final reflections reveal, among other things, how photographic tourists are considered “awareness agents”, as they not only promote the interpretation and documentation of heritage landscapes but also contribute to their conservation, enhancement, and enjoyment.
