Aim of this research was to study the performance of different groups of people on the SIS – Supports Intensity Scale. This tool investigate which specific support adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities need to meet their goals. An underlying hypothesis of this study is that autistic syndrome predicts that a person will require increased support over time. Comparing persons with mental retardation to those with autistic syndrome or psychiatric disorders, the research revealed there was no significant difference in level of support need.
